Core Web Vitals explained

Before we get started, its worth mentioning that there will be a bit of tech jargon in this post, it's unavoidable. But don't worry we're going to make sure it all makes sense in the end. 

What are they any why do they matter?

Core Web Vitals are a collection of particular factors that Google considers significant in the overall user experience of a webpage.

Optimising for user experience quality is vital to the long term success of any website. Whether you're a business owner, marketer, or developer, Web Vitals will help you measure your site's experience and highlight areas for improvement.

Core Web Vitals are three distinct page performance and user interaction measurements: LCP - Largest contentful paint, FID - first input delay, and CLS - cumulative layout shift.

For each of these metrics we want to make sure you're meeting the recommended target for the majority of your users.  To do that is helps to know what they are 'looking at' and how this relates to user experience.
